Mission Statement
It shall be the purpose of the Augsburg Chemistry Society to have an official organization for chemistry majors, minors, and students with chemistry interests at Augsburg College. The organization will rally support for the chemistry program at Augsburg College. The ACS's primary function is to help run the weekly chemistry seminar in which graduating seniors, faculty, and invited speakers give presentations on varied topics such as research, careers, graduate studies and special topics. The seminar also serves as a gathering of the chemistry community of Augsburg in which potential program changes, departmental issues and student concerns can be discussed. The ACS will also have biweekly meeting after seminar to encourage first and second year students, and students with interests in chemistry to take part in the planning of events outside of seminar. The goals and objectives for the year are to promote chemistry awareness and stimulate interest. Also, to prepare students for their post-graduate goals and to involve faculty, staff and students.
